Jerry Calvert, a Kansas native, is a two tour Vietnam Vetran. After militay service he attended Long Beach State Univerity in California and Wichita State University in Kansas, receiving degrees in Polital Science and Public Administration. He is currently employed as the President of Kansas Fire Equipment Co. in Wichita, Ks. Jerry has had a life long love affair with rocks and fossils but within a week after encountering his first meteorite he was out in the field hunting with a metal detector. Since then, though a serives of trades and purchases from large meteorite dealers, Calvert has built one of the largest privately owned collections of Kansas Meteorites. Currently his collection contains 108 representative specimens of the 139 recorded Kansas meteorites, including the main mass of the Wichita Meteorite, McCracken (b), Lost Creek, Kansas State Univ. (a), Kansas State University (b), and the newly recovered Klackley meteorite. He has sucessfully hunted meteorites in Arizona and New Mexico and is the co-founder of the Kansas Meteorite Society.
